Labyrinth of Infinite Doorways
Carina Earl is an MFA graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute. Originally from New Orleans, she’s spent most of her life in the Washington DC area, and San Francisco, and currently lives in Raleigh NC. Her work has been displayed in various galleries throughout the US and abroad. In 2008 she was handpicked to lead and execute a mural with Mural Arts Philadelphia and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful. In San Francisco she became involved with Trickster Arts Salon, which hosted a series of her pieces at Mission Control and Aspect Gallery. Her work has been shown numerous times at the Diego Rivera Gallery in North Beach, as well as with the Toronto Visionary Arts Gallery. At Stanford University, she displayed her work for “SMASH” and presented an art lecture for the “Leonardo Art and Science Evening Rendezvous”. She is currently a resident artist at 311 Gallery in Raleigh, and a featured artist for the Leoni Arts Project in Portugal.
Carina’s interest in painting began when she received her first paint set in 1986, and has said that painting has enabled her to envision access points into other times and dimensions. Along with her childhood passion for art, was a passion for math and science. Her studies in geometry, physics, and biology have deeply informed the concepts in her work. Currently she is working on a portfolio called “Labyrinth of Infinite Doorways”, which focuses on a period around 4 billion years from now when astronomers predict the Milky Way will merge with Andromeda. Her concepts are based on the premise that life and consciousness are structural components of physics, and that eventually life will permeate both star systems forming an elliptical biosphere. Duality is a subtle yet persistent theme in her work, as one side of the spectrum cannot exist without the other. Freedom cannot exist without the experience of suffering, and creation cannot exist without the restructuring of physics. Every painting tells a story, from plants that evolve to become more like animals, animals that become more like plants, and galaxies that transform into massive biospheres. Each story is a piece of the puzzle that the role of consciousness and biology plays in the unfolding of the universe.
